SS - Super Straight TikTok

For many TikTok users they may be aware of a new viral thread that is happening on the social media platform. ''SuperStraight'' which is a person who specifies that they would not proceed into a romantic or sexual relationship with an individual who identifies as part of the Trans community.

On many social media platform adjacent to TikTok this has now become a highlighted debate to whether someone supporting the SS movement it participating in a transphobic campaign or the movement is part of a genuine personal preference.

Transphobia - Transphobia is a collection of ideas and phenomena that encompass a range of negative attitudes, feelings or actions towards transgender people or transness in general.

Personal Preference - Personal preference is a feeling of liking or wanting one person or thing more than another person or thing.

The debate so far has been many mixed feelings around the subject with both Trans & Cis people being for and against the suggestion that identifying as SS is actually a way to enforce transphobia.

One user wrote: It's one thing to politely and respectfully decline to date a trans-person but one shouldn't define themselves as ''not-attracted-to-trans'' just like that.

and other people are saying that identifying as SS is a legitimate personal preference

One user wrote: You can't and shouldn't politically enforce people sexual preferences. Unfair as it is, a person is allowed to not be interested in dating Trans, POC or handicapped ect... I think its whack, but I 100% agree no one should declare their lack of attraction to any people.

The SS movement originated on TikTok and was created by a NeoNazi account of which it then proceeded to go viral throughout many different locations worldwide. Although it has been mainly men that have openly expressed the SS movement on the social media platform, its believed thier are may women who also support the movement.

Tiktok administration has began to moderate the #SuperStraight and have deactivated the original source account and many other account who have used the movement to spread hate.
